Sibling rivalry
I remember the sniping at each other my brother & I used to do as kids. (Well, check that - he's seven-point-five years older than me, so it was more like "the kid and the teenager".)
One of our favorite things to do was play football. "Yeah, Spatula - so???", I hear you asking.
Well, the weird thing about this was where the games took place - in his room.
(And you thought Arena Football was a new concept...? (snicker))
Bro's bed (the end zone) was at one end of the room. The line of scrimmage was at the other end. Objective: Get to the end zone with possession of the ball without getting two-belowed or otherwise thrown like a rag doll to the sideline.
Mind you - this is a 15' x 10' bedroom we're talking about here. And it was on the top floor of the house. (Yes, there was structural damage to the house when we moved out. Why do you ask? (grin))
Best bet: draw the rush in, then lob the "ball" (it was a football-shaped pillow) over my brother's head onto the bed, then either scramble like mad to beat him to the ball, or hope it fell off the bed before he got to it, making it an incomplete pass.
This was how we took out our natural aggressions on each other, rather than have him destroy me in a fistfight. Worked most of the time. (rueful grin)
Today's kids, though, have more high-tech ways of getting under each other's skin. Witness, for example, how the SpatulaGoddess' twin boys go about their sibling rivalry here. If only Dan Blather and the morons at See-BS had waited for these kiddos...
