The first shoe has dropped

My boss isn't returning my emails.

Our weekly conference call for next week has been pushed up a day.

And he sent out an email all but ordering the entire team - even those who had planned on taking a personal day Monday - to be at work.

All this means nothing to you - unless you know that Cingular Wireless has not only announced that layoffs are coming, but has already started the chopping.

I have a very  bad feeling about this.
