Okay, so I lied.

I said I'd crank up the Perfect Football Weekend tomorrow, even though it was Thanksgiving.

But what I forgot to take into account is the annual Thanksgiving column, where I pontificate on a partial list of those things for which I am thankful (and for which some of you should be thankful, too).  And since I've noticed, in the year-plus I've been doing this, that SOME OF YOU NEVER READ PAST THE TOP POST ON THE PAGE, D@MMIT...!!!  WHAT, DO YOU THINK MY INFINITE WISDOM HAS ONLY A ONE-DAY SHELF LIFE OR SOMETHING...?!?!?!

Huh...?  What?  Oh...sorry.  Never mind...I'm back now. (grin)

Anyway, since that piece will go up tomorrow - and  I'll be cooking - I'll likely not have time to rant and rave about football.  So here we go...

Tomorrow, the Dallas Cowgirls...gasp, arrrrrgh!!!...actually have a chance to win a football game.  The Chicago Bears will make the pilgrimage to Texas Stadium to take on the 'Boys for the annual Thanksgiving contest.  Da Bears are having yet another down year, having lost two (Two?) quarterbacks to injury - not that they were that good to start with.  Drew Henson will make his first NFL start - which, in the opinion of many wags around here, automatically raises Dallas' chances of winning, if for no other reason than that he is not  Vinny Testaverde.  Look for the Cowboys to win, if not comfortably.

Friday, the Royse City Bulldogs will travel to the neutral site of Tyler to take on Center in 3A playoff football.  Sorry, I don't know enough about either team to handicap it for you.

Saturday, my TCU Horned Frogs put seven straight years of bowl eligibility on the line against Conference USA rival Tulane at Amon Carter Stadium.  This is a game the Froggies should win - but then again, so was the USF game.

The sad thing is, TCU lost its chance to land Steve Spurrier as head coach, as he signed this week to replace Lou Holtz at South Carolina - so we're stuck with Gary Patterson unless we can somehow convince Southlake (TX) Carroll coach Todd Dodge to come to Fort Worth.

The Oklahoma Sooners...are off until the Big XII championship game on December 4th.

And - having checked the blog entries from last year - as much as I hate to say it, this is the last PFW of the year, since this is pretty much the last regular-season college football weekend, and the PFW is pretty much based on that particular season.  I've had a blast bringing it to you, and I hope you've had fun reading it and talking trash about your favorite teams, too.
