PFW:  For all the marbles

The Perfect Football Weekend cranks up once again for a ton of fun & frivolity.  Now that President Dubya has vanquished yet another band of Demoscum, here's a PFW we can actually enjoy. (grin)

My Arlington Heights Yellow Jackets wrap up the regular season tonight against the Southwest Raiders for the district 7-AAAA championship.  As much as I hate to say it - Southwest may win this game; they're every bit as good as AHHS, and quite probably better.

Not that it matters; both teams are going to the state playoffs, and will both probably be "one & done". (sigh)

Interesting note about Southwest:  back about 15-20 years ago, they used to be known as the Southwest Rebels,  complete with the Conferderate flag.  This was before PC dumb@$$e$ at the NAALCP latched onto the ear of the school board and ruined it for everyone.

TCU doesn't lose this weekend, guaranteed.  That they don't play this weekend has a little bit to do with it.  They'll travel to Louisville Wednesday, and I'll bash them then.

We have a double-whammy game in College Station Saturday.  The Oklahoma Sooners - the other college team on my list - travel to take on Dennis "The Mercenary" Franchione and the Texas A&M Aggies...a team on (for obvious reasons) my anti-list.  Franchione's Ags got their heads handed to them last year, 77-0, so they'll be out for revenge.  However, if Baylor can beat these guys, I figure OU can - right? (grin)

Sunday, the Dallas Cowgirls will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals.  I don't know what it is about the Bengals, but they have the Girls' number.  Doesn't matter what the records are - Cincy always seems to come out on top.  And they destroyed Denver on Monday Night Football a couple weeks ago, so they'll have plenty of confidence.

This weekend could, therefore, be a rough one.  We're back on Monday for the recap.

Stay tuned, though - I'll be working on my Six Things column about Botox Boy this weekend, and I hope to have plenty of other stuff, as well.

Blog-tweakery

With the new blog template comes a new post template, which is why you may have noticed the post about the Lady change a bit from moment to moment.

Hopefully, this won't take too long.  Sit tight for a bit.


UPDATE:  Okay, looks like I've got it now.  Have managed somehow to recapture the flavor of the old template while changing font and background colors to something more to my liking.

What you're seeing right now is pretty much the Windows color scheme on every computer I own - purple, teal and black, with a lot of cyan text on a black background.  Everyone I know calls it the weirdest scheme they've ever seen, but to me and my majorly light-sensitive eyes, it just makes sense - remember, I cut my computer teeth on an old Apple II clone, with mono green text on a black background.  For me, this is natural - and  it cuts down on headaches. (grin)

Over the next week or so, I'll be re-inserting the rest of the old sidebar (lucky me, I found a copy of a recent template) - the history, FAQ, disclaimer, all that stuff.  Hang loose.
