PFW:  Roy Williams vs...Roy Williams

It happened often enough during the early part of this century:  A team featuring Roy Williams played...a team featuring Roy Williams.

The teams were Texas and Oklahoma, and the OU Roy Williams always got the best of the TU Roy Williams. (For that matter, OU's been getting the best of TU a lot lately...but that's another post. (snicker))

Now, for the first time since OU's Williams graduated, the two meet again on a football field.  Only this time, TU's Williams has a better chance of emerging victorious.

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions - featuring TU's Williams - come to Texas Stadium to play OU's Williams and the Dallas Cowgirls.  The Lions also feature one of the league's rising-star quarterbacks, Joey Harrington.  Detroit, after losing an NFL-record 24 straight road games, has now won three in a row, and I expect them to make it four.

So much for a Perfect  Football Weekend...but there are  other games on tap.

Tonight, my Arlington Heights Yellow Jackets go up against the Trimble Tech Bulldogs.  Tech's known more for it's industrial training programs than its football teams - they're 3-5 this year - so I look for Heights to win comfortably, if not in the requisite squash.

Tomorrow, we'll find out if the TCU Horned Frogs' defensive performance against Houston was a fluke, or a case of Gary Patterson finally stumbling onto something.  They travel to the University of Cincinnati ("You're a Great American, Sean Hannity!!!") to take on the Bearcats.  Cincy's forté has been basketball in recent years, but the last time the Froggies played there, they let the 'Cats come from behind to win.  So, we'll see.

Also, the Sooners travel to Stillwater to take on arch-rival Oklahoma State.  The Cowboys have won two of the last three from OU, and are 6-1 compared to OU's 7-0.  This is one OU could very conceivably lose; time to take steps to protect the fingernails.

Osama bin Laden tried to purchase the world's largest pearl, the Pearl of Allah, as a gift to Saddam Hussein "to unite the Arab cultures," and Hussein was prepared to accept, according to the pearl's owner.

Victor Barbish, who owns 66 percent of the pearl on behalf of his daughter, told WorldNetDaily he received an offer in 1999 from individuals who said they were "from bin Laden's group" to purchase the pearl for $60 million to give to Hussein as an overture of unity between al-Qaida and the Iraqi government.

Now combine that with the fact that Hussein had a 707 on the ground at a training facility called Salman Pak - a facility designed for teaching ragheads how to hijack airplanes.

And yet another "Game, Set, Match" with which to whack the Demoscum atop their pointed heads.
