Heresy from the Microsoft mark

For the last week or 10 days or so, I've been dabbling with Mozilla's Firefox, version 0.9.3.  And I have to admit - not bad.

Yes, I know this is blasphemy from he who is possibly the staunchest defender of Microsoft since Billy Gates himself.  But there's something about Firefox that I like, that Internet Explorer - at least, right now - isn't giving me.

I have on my box what you might describe as...erm...a most unusual color scheme.   The net effect is that most of what I see in a browser consists of light cyan text on a black background.  The Favorites sidebar is a darkish teal background with white lettering.  Okay, got that pictured?

Well, everyonceinawhile™ the video driver in XP will crap out and decide that it's  going to decide how IE shows my webpages.  The net result is that the background that's supposed  to be black is now the same darkish teal color as the favorites sidebar - only with the same light-cyan lettering.

It is, in a word, butt-ugly.

Last week, a client of my side business (PC repair, natch) complained that Firefox was causing all his email to divert to a mail account - or was it a mail client? - that he didn't want, and could I fix it?  Well, not having had any experience with Firefox, I downloaded it and installed it to see if I could reproduce the problem.

And promptly discovered that...hmmm, this isn't a bad browser.

In the first place, I can pretty much configure Firefox to look mostly like IE - same favorites sidebar and everything.

Secondly - my color scheme is back in place.  Light cyan on the black background, teal sidebar with the white lettering.  And  it actually works a little faster than IE.

Which is good, because the IE phenomonon just kicked in on my primary laptop.  Grrrrrrr.

Color me impressed with Firefox.  And color me a touch disillusioned with Microsoft Internet Explorer.

My influence is spreading - again

MIAMI - As you guys know, I've made my Blogosphere reputation on...um..."inviting" leftards to my front door if they were man enough to spew their BS to my face.

Well, those days are rapidly coming to an end - that is, assuming that I ever get my act together and get my temper under control (sigh) - but it doesn't mean that I haven't awakened a sleeping giant.

Er, make that a sleeping Rottweiler. (grin)

BC and the boys over at Misha's have stumbled onto yet another mugging by Demoscum union thugs who are real bad boys when it's 30 on 1 - okay, 30 on 1.5 - and have dared the Demothugs to (ahem) come say it to their face.

I just hope they remember to invite me  for this rumble... (grin)
