John F'n Kerry, the Qetchup Qing, just hadda go open his mouth and point towards his four-and-a-half-months of service in Vietnam as the reason we should elect him President. Just hadda go and make a big deal about his three Lavender Hearts, now didn't he?
(NOTE: I refer to them as "Lavender Hearts", not out of disrespect for the award, but because I think that Ketchup@$$ didn't earn them, nor did he deserve them.)
And to make matters worse, once the Swift Boat controversy broke out, he had to admit that...wellllllll, maybeitdidn'tquiterateapurpleheartmumblemumble...
Well, now, that little admission seems to have attracted the attention of the Navy - which has decided that it's going to investigate.
A navy spokesman confirmed on Friday that the inspector-general's office at the Pentagon had authorised the inquiry. "It is the responsibility of all personnel to correct errors in official records," said the spokesman. Another official said privately: "There's a feeling that it's time to deal with this thoroughly, once and for all."
Oh, yes - by all means, let's. The press has had their fun in their foolish, vain attempt to ascertain whether President Bush ever reported for National Guard duty. And what's good for the goose is good for the gander, wouldn't you say? (chuckle)
Now, you would think that Botox Boy, having nothing to hide and dying for the chance to shove a "Nyaah!!!" down the GOP throat, would welcome this investigation.
So it should come as small surprise to you that Kerry's campaign immediately pitched a hissy fit:
In an angry statement from the Kerry campaign headquarters, Michael Meehan, Mr Kerry's senior adviser, condemned the navy probe as an expensive waste of the Pentagon's resources.
"The facts are clear," said Mr Meehan. "The navy awarded John Kerry the Silver Star, a Bronze Star with Combat V and three Purple Hearts. This is a waste of taxpayers' dollars and the Pentagon's time, especially during wartime."
No worse a waste of resources than your homie Kaiser Wilhelm vonEnemiesLister using the IRS to go after his political adversaries, eh, Mikey? Or did you conveniently forget about that, hmmmmm?
The inquiry comes at the end of the worst week of Mr Kerry's campaign. The poll showing an 11-point lead by President Bush, to be published in this week's Time magazine, was taken during the first three days of the Republican Convention in New York, which featured repeated direct attacks on Mr Kerry as an unreliable candidate for the role of Commander-in-Chief during the war on terror.
Suffice it to say that, if the investigation goes the way I think it should go, T'Raisin can kiss her chance to redecorate the White House au revoir. (snicker)
