Okay, one caveat:  I hate polls.  Doesn't matter whether the results favor or oppose my cause celébre  - my position on polls is always "well, they haven't asked me".

That said, I found this most  encouraging.

For the first time since the Presidential race became a two person contest last spring, there is a clear leader, the latest TIME poll shows. If the 2004 election for President were held today, 52% of likely voters surveyed would vote for President George W. Bush, 41% would vote for Democratic nominee John Kerry, and 3% would vote for Ralph Nader, according to a new TIME poll conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

Now, I'm not going to say it's over - not by a long shot.  But, in pro-wrestling terminology, it's Stone Cold Steve Austin delivering to his opponent the dreaded KICK WHAM that leads to the all-but-automatic STUNNER, and the resulting 1-2-3.

That wailing & gnashing of teeth you hear right now is the sound of Demoscum across the country in pure panic mode.

Ain't it wonderful???  (chuckle)


UPDATE:  Newsweek's poll confirms.  Demoscum - if I were you, I'd start mixing the Kool-Aid. (snicker)

Zell Miller:  My kind of Democrat

Remember when Chrissy Matthews exposed his ass to Michelle Malkin a couple weeks ago?

Well, he tried it again with Zell Miller yesterday.  Just one problem, from Chrissy's point of view:  Zell fought back.

Democratic Sen. Zell Miller, whose speech slamming John Kerry as soft on defense electrified the GOP convention Wednesday night, gave MSNBC's Chris Matthews a much-needed on-air upbraiding minutes later for constantly interrupting him during an interview.

Miller gave no ground as Matthews deployed his patented rat-a-tat rhetorical style, and even warned the pro-Kerry host that he wouldn't let him get away with the same kind of treatment he gave Michelle Malkin last week when Matthews tossed her off the show for defending the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Not so easy to get away with your abject rudeness when your target throws it right back in your face, is  it, Chrissy? (chortle)

Check out some of these highlights:

MILLER: If you are going to ask me a question, step back and let me answer. (LAUGHTER)

MATTHEWS: Senator, please.

MILLER: You know, I wish we ...

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

MILLER: I wish we lived in the day where you could challenge a person to a duel.

(LAUGHTER)

MATTHEWS: Well, let me ask you, when Democrats come out, as they often do, liberal Democrats, and attack conservatives and say they want to starve little kids, they want to get rid of education, they want to kill the old people ...

MILLER: I am not saying that. Wait a minute.

MATTHEWS: That kind of rhetoric is not educational, is it?

MILLER: Wait a minute.

Now, this is your program. And I am a guest on your program.

MATTHEWS: Yes, sir.

MILLER: And so I want to try to be as nice as I possibly can to you. I wish I was over there, where I could get a little closer up into your face.

(LAUGHTER)

MILLER: But I don‘t have to stand here and listen to that kind of stuff. I didn't say anything about not feeding poor kids...

Ah.  My hero.

Shame Miller isn't running for President.  I'd be seriously tempted to vote for him if he were.
