PFW:  Perfect Football Weekends 2004 - Overview

Okay, so this is a little late, but here we go.

In the land of Spatulaville, a Perfect Football Weekend is one where all my  teams win. (No, I don't care about your teams - unless my teams are playing 'em, and then I wanna kick you all over the field. (grin))

My teams this year are:

the (Fort Worth, TX) Arlington Heights HS Yellow Jackets
the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs
the Dallas Cowboys
the Oklahoma University Sooners

Yes, I said the Oklahoma Sooners.

Now, before you go checking me for fever or West Nile or something, allow me an explanation.

Usually, my other college football team would be the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in honor of (and deference to) my best friend up in Nebraska.

However - as I've explained previously - since they decided to replace Frank Solich with former Oakland Raiders' excuse-for-a-coach Bill Callahan, instead of giving the job to either the genius of Turner Gill or the greatness of Bo Pelini, this year I'm going with Oklahoma.  Primarily because they did  hire Pelini - as their new defensive coordinator.

(Incidentally, if I were Mack Brown, I'd start looking for another job.  The OU defense under Pelini is going to flat-out abuse your offense this year, Little Mac; you'll be lucky to get so much as a field goal against 'em. (snicker))

Now, for this week's analysis:

Arlington Heights is already 0-1, having lost to the Azle (Azle???)  Hornets, 7-14.  Friday night, they'll have their hands full with the group from Wichita Falls Hirschi, a perennial 4A power.  Gulp.

TCU, as you can see on the sidebar, has Northwestern tonight at 8:30 at home.  Northwestern has sunk quite a bit since Gary Barnett left for Colorado, and I, quite honestly, expect a squash tonight.  Gary Patterson, are you listening???

Also tonight, Dallas plays its final preseason game against Kansas City at Texas Stadium.  The 'Pokes beat Tennessee 20-17 Monday night; the bottom of the roster is still up for grabs, and the starters played most of the Monday night game.  So, expect a lot of backups to get a lot of playing time...and, as a result, expect a KC romp.

Which is fine.  It's only preseason, after all. (Incidentally, in Spatulaville, preseason game results don't count in the PFW.  To me, it's enough that they're playing again. (grin))

Saturday, the Sooners have a bye week, so they'll practice by destroying Bowling Green up in Norman. (snicker)

Everybody ready?  Then let's rock 'n roll!!!  As always, I'm very much available to grace your tailgate party with my presence...   :-D

Here we go again

Another hurricane stalking the Florida coast, another prayer request.

We were lucky with Charley.  That one hit the coast opposite of the Lady Spatula.

Frances is coming now - and this time, my Micali is directly in her path.

And they basically have nowhere to go.  And, bless my beloved's stubborn heart, she's staying right where she is. (sigh)

Please pray for my wife and my stepson, Denizens.  They need it now more than ever.

Thatisall.  Thanks.

Happy blogoversary to me, happy blogoversary to meeeeeeee...

Yes, Denizens, you read right - the blogo-carnation of Spatula City BBS! turns one year old today.  And, to reminisce a bit, here's the first ever post - other than the obligatory "Hi, I'm a blog now" entry everybody does...

(NOTE:  Don't  click on the links; they don't work any more.  Not sure why, but you actually have to tell some people that...)

Bad baseball team?  Fire the manager.  Bad police department...?

Outside of the notoriety we here in Texas have gotten for having 11 cowards currently residing in New Mexico who don't have the balls to stand up and fight (John Whitmire notwithstanding), it's probably escaped everyone's notice that, here in Dallas - where we've led the nation in crime for the last six years - our city manager fired the police chief's sorry ass the other day.

This isn't notable in itself, save for one minor detail - the fired chief happens to have been the first black police chief ever in the city of Dallas.  Uh, whoops.

Now, you gotta understand a couple of things about Dallas:  This is the same city whose school district was just released this year from a 30-year-old desegragation order.  That's at least 20 years too late, but it lingered because the black community tried every legal trick in the book to keep the court case going - despite the fact that the school district enrollment is at least 90 percent minority, they wanted to make the Dallas ISD wait 10 more years - a "little more time" to "prove the schools were desgregated".

This is the same city that (correct me if I'm wrong here) had people blasting Troy Aikman after he dared to criticize a black assistant coach.  Never mind that that same coach later was instrumental in damned near destroying the Oklahoma University football program, thus proving that he was pretty frickin' incompetent in the first place.  This is the same city that dared to criticize the 'Boys last year when they replaced Quincy Carter (black) with Chad Hutchinson (white) at quarterback - despite the fact that Carter sucked in losing to, of all teams, the Arizona Cardinals.

We have here in this city:  1) a black community that blames everything bad that's ever happened to any black person, ever, on racismracismracism!!!!!, and 2) a white community that seems to want to keep giving them reason to do just that.  Not by displaying any racism, either overtly or covertly - but by bowing down and scraping in front of those who are making the charge, thus encouraging more of the same.

Now these people, including some blacks on the Council itself, are threatening race riots. That may have flown in S. Central Los Angeles, but I don't think I'd be trying it here.  I'm a lot harder to bring down than Reginald Denny was - and I fight back.

Let me pose a question to you dumbasses in the so-called "black community":

Years ago, you morons were whining about the concept of "urban sprawl", where whites were exiting the city proper in droves and moving to the suburbs.  And the phenomonon continues today - cities like Plano, McKinney, Allen and Frisco are enjoying record growth.

Has it ever occurred to you people - yeah, I said "you people"; shut up and get over it - that the reason we're undertaking this exodus is that...oh, I dunno...we're tired of you??? Has it ever occurred to you that we've had it with John Whiney Price, Diane Ragsdull, Maxine "Vote For The Candidate That Looks Like You" Thornton-Reese, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Ron Kirk, Royce West, et. al, ad infinitum, ad nauseam - and that, since we can't kick you out and we're prohibited by law from doing our own drive-by shootings like your children seem to have learned to do...we're exercising the only other option that seems to be available to us, that being we leave?  Hmmmmmm?

We're tired of being preached to.  We're tired of all the Spike Lee "joynts" that pin every single one of Black America's problems on "whitey".  We're tired of being force-fed comedies on UPN featuring actors and actresses who wouldn't even have jobs except for the incessant whining of the Rev'rnnnnnnnd Jack's'nnnnn.  We're tired of being told how supposedly "racist" we are, when it's clear that you not only don't know the meaning of the word, many of you are just as bigoted - the word for which you're actually looking - as you claim we are, in many cases moreso.

Fact:  Terrell Bolton was hired for no other reason than that he was black.  Had Terrell Bolton been white, the overwhelming odds are that he would have never been chief.

Fact:  There were already other more qualified candidates already serving in the Dallas Police Department.  Terrell Bolton was promoted over those qualified candidates when he didn't deserve it.

Fact:  Terrell Bolton demonstrated his incompetence by promoting his peers to serve with him on his staff, clearing out these more qualified candidates, and morale in the DPD has suffered ever since.

Fact:  Dallas leads the nation in crime rate, and has for the last six years.  Terrell Bolton's solution to this outrage was...rolling roadblocks on Dallas highways.

Fact:  The promotion debacle, the crime rate, the fake drug scandal (where sheetrock was planted on unassuming, innocent people in an attempt to frame them), and the hiring/subsequent firing of an officer who had a rap sheet on him - all this shit happened on his watch.

It's time for him to go.  It's time for a competent, efficient, who-gives-a-shit-what-color-he-is chief to replace him.  And it's time for the Dallas black community to shut up and sit down.
