He's a RINO; is it any wonder Texans hate him?

The hand-wringing has officially started - Texas governor Rick Perry's negative numbers have leapfrogged 50%:

Gov. Rick Perry's approval rating has tumbled to a new low.

More than half of Texans disapprove of the job he's doing, according to a Texas Poll released Tuesday. That compares to Ann Richards' negative reviews in November 1994, when 48 percent gave a thumbs-down to the governor who had just been defeated.

"He is in trouble," Cal Jillson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University, said of Mr. Perry. "He's seen as more partisan than thoughtful."

More partisan than thoughtful???   Cal, just what the Hell™ are you smoking?

Perry happens to be in so much trouble because he's acting more like a liberal than a conservative. (I'd say "more Demoscum than Republican", but then I'd probably hear it from those of you who say there's no difference between the two.)

Kathy Walt, the governor's press secretary, said Mr. Perry has tackled tough issues – such as a $9.9 billion, two-year budget shortfall; high property taxes; and the "Robin Hood" school-funding system.

Although a special session he called to overhaul school finance and reduce property taxes ended in failure this week, Mr. Perry will press ahead, Ms. Walt said.

"The governor will continue to make difficult leadership decisions on issues important to Texans based on principles and not polls," she said.

"Principles and not polls", eh, Kathy dear?  Let's check the facts:

In 2001, a black church in Dallas was vandalized.  At the time, a so-called "hate-crimes" bill was up for consideration in the Texas Legislature.  A massive hue and cry was raised to pass this bill, despite the fact that: 1) it's unconstitutional, both by Texas and United States standards, and 2) it was later revealed that a young black kid had committed the vandalization, probably on orders from his pastor and/or certain influential black leaders in the community.

Perry was warned by several Republican constituents not to sign the bill - not the least of which was yours truly.  He signed it anyway.

"Principles and not polls"?

The other thing happened last year, when the United States excuse-for-a not-so-Supreme Court struck down the Texas sodomy law.  I wrote Governor Perry and implored him to ignore the Court's decision because it was the right thing to do.

He wrote back and said that Texas would honor the Court's decision.  Because of that cave-in - because Big Dick Perry relied on "priniciples and not polls", we now have heterophobic sodomite asshats running roughshod over the good people of MassaChewsShits - and they'll be doing so for at least two years, and very probably longer.

As a bona fide  conservative, I'm wondering:  You people are surprised by this?  It amazes you that the Republican Party has been taken over by people, many of them passing themselves off as "compassionate conservatives", who wouldn't know principle if it bit them in their fat asses?

At the state GOP convention in 2002, I turned my back on Big Dickhead Perry as he was being introduced to the delegates.  I wasn't about to applaud a RINO SOB who didn't give a shit about what the conservative base of the party - the base that elected him, I might add - thought about the issues of the day.

As I'll be with my bride during this year's convention, I won't get that chance again.  But if doesn't clean up his act between now and the next time he's up for re-election, you can be damned sure I'll do so, should I be here when that happens.

I have long maintained that I want my enemy facing me, rather than patting me on the back whilst holding a dagger.  Big Dickhead Perry isn't exempt from that, nor should he be.
