Ma'am, put down those assault-trifocals right now!!!
As you guys know, I live in Dallas.
One of the things with which we Dallas residents have to deal from time to time is the general intelligence - or, I should say, lack thereof - in an inner-city "suburb", if you will, called the Park Cities. They're so named because of the names of the towns - Highland Park and University Park. They're in the neighborhood of Skip-and-Muffy University (SMU), which should tell you something.
Anyway, I've had occasion to deal with the University Park traffic court system. They're open for three-and-a-half hours every Wednesday night - and only Wednesday night. Should you want to deal with a speeding ticket ANY OTHER TIME...well, you are just fuckin' SOL, homes.
The point is, that the University Park legal system is, to put it mildly, highly anal-retentive. And so, to read this story, is the one belonging to Highland Park...
Highland Park police follow orders to the letter.
When they found that 97-year-old Harriette "Dolly" Kelton had an outstanding warrant for failing to pay a traffic ticket, they handcuffed her, put her in the squad car and hauled her to jail.
That should give you all the evidence of asshattery you might need - but no, then these pricks had to try and defend themselves, whereby they further stuck their feet in their mouths - or would that be "heads up their asses"...?
Officers stopped Ms. Kelton, who has lived in Highland Park for at least 60 years, for having an expired inspection sticker and registration last week. When checking her name and license, they discovered an arrest warrant for failure to pay a prior ticket for no registration.
Oh, there's a menace to society, right there! Lock that damned miscreant up, deputies!!! Hell, let's film the perp walk, why don't we?!?!?!
Drivers who don't have their license or have an outstanding warrant go to jail if they're stopped in Highland Park. No exceptions.
No common sense, either. Wonder if they used any pain-compliance techniques on her...?
"A warrant begins with the words 'you are hereby commanded to arrest,' " said Detective Randy Millican, Highland Park's public information officer. "How do you decide who do you arrest and who you don't? How about at age 90 but not at 91 and up? How about between 17 and 20?
How about exercising some fucking horse sense for a change, you bureaucratic pissweasel??? Or is that too much to ask of a fuckin' brownshirt, huh?
"It's an order from a court to make an arrest, so discretion goes out the window," he said.
Ain't that the Gawd's truth? The thing is, you have to have a degree to work in those police departments - and presumably, you need to be able to think to obtain such a degree.
But apparently, not in Highland Park.
Ms. Kelton, a former teacher at The Hockaday School, was no different. She was in police custody for about two hours before her attorney arrived and was released on her own recognizance.
"Our real beef with this is that no real judgment was displayed or actually carried out in this incident," said Dr. Phil Kelton Jr., one of Ms. Kelton's sons. "There's absolutely no question that they had a right to do what they did. My question is whether or not they should.
Absolutely not, Phil - but good Gawd, don't expect the elitist snotnoses in the Park Cities to possess anything even remotely resembling judgement. That's asking a bit too much of a power-tripping Nazi brownshirt cop with brown fecal matter where it should be gray.
Stupid-assed fuckwits...
