And it's about damned time, too

It's been six months since President Bush declared an end to what he termed "major combat operations" (even though he did not  declare an end to the war), and over 130 troops have died in those six months.

Today, the chief of the U.S. Central Command warned some royal religious muckety-mucks near Baghdad to knock it off - or else:


The warning was another sign of a ''get tough'' campaign against insurgents, who have accelerated attacks against U.S. and coalition forces in recent weeks. U.S. forces had eased off on raids during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began in late October.

Hours after Abizaid's warning, U.S. jets dropped three 500-pound bombs in the Fallujah area after three paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division were wounded in an ambush. There was no report of casualties from the bombing.


What I  wanna know is, WTF took  'em so damned long?

It's been my contention that the first  serviceman who died as a result of these attacks should've  been the last. At that point, the bombing should've resumed anew.

And you make that a pattern until the tumblefucks get the message. You send one of ours to the infirmary...we send a hundred of yours to the morgue.


"Neither America, nor the father of America, scares us," said one resident, Najih Latif Abbas. "Iraqi men are striking at Americans and they retaliate by terrifying our children."


You haven't seen terror yet, raghead. You come face-to-face with a couple JDAMs and a MOAB - that's  terror.


Fakhri Fayadh, a 60-year-old farmer, said reprisal attacks "will only increase our spite and hatred of them. If they think that they will scare us, they are wrong. Day after day, Americans will be harmed and attacks against them will increase."


Yeah, and the number of Saddam's dick-sucking sycophants will decrease, too.

PFW: A Perfect Football Weekend plus...

It's always a pleasant surprise when I get to enjoy a PFW. (For the Uninitiated, a PFW is one where all four of the teams I closely follow win. My four teams are the (Fort Worth, TX) Arlington Heights Yellow Jackets, the TCU Horned Frogs, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Dallas Cowboys.)

And when more than a couple of my anti-teams  lose - well, that's just gravy.

So it is with a happy heart today that I come to you to recap:


Arlington Heights 49, Western Hills HS Cougars 33
TCU 31, Louisville 28 (Wednesday)
Nebraska 24, Kansas 3
Dallas 10, Buffalo 6.


AHHS exploded for 27 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a 26-22 deficit and capture the District 7-AAAA championship. While Heights last won the championship in 1999, no team has done so in undefeated fashion since 1985, and Heights last did it in 1979 - my junior year.

You already know how TCU did.

Nebraska went on the road for a Big 12 game and...won. Huh? (grin)

Oh, well - it was  Kansas, which got beat by Baylor, and Baylor's royally sorry, so I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise. (shrug)

Dallas played just good enough to win yesterday. Add that to the fact that Buffalo is a horrible road team, and I come out looking like a genius once again (remember, I called for Dallas in a squeaker).

"But, Your Lordship", you say, "where's the gravy"?

The gravy is that four of my anti-teams - teams that, right now, you couldn't pay  me to like - lost.

You should know why I dislike A&M ("Dennis the Mercenary" Franchione).

I, and lots of others like me, dislike the Miami Hurricanes just out of principle. (grin)

With the pro teams, it's a case of players who are either arrogant (Warren Sapp, Tampa Bay), criminal, or both (Ray Lewis, Baltimore).

So. This qualifies as a PFW+. Things couldn't have gone much better this weekend.
