Now, I'm perpetually broke, given who it is I work for and what I do. So I'm taking up a collection for a round-trip ticket to NY City so I can go up there and kick this pansy's ass.

PFW: A game of inches...

It's said that football is a game of inches.

Whoever said that was a genius. Or had a placekicker who'd failed him.

Another potential Perfect Football Weekend kicked off last night as my TCU Horned Frogs survived a Red Scare of their own by hanging on to beat their Conference-USA arch-rivals, the Louisville Cardinals, at Amon Carter Stadium.

And, but for three inches, they might still be playing.

Louisville's placekicker, Nate Smith, missed three field goal attempts in the last 20 minutes of the ball game - the last a 44-yard try that hit the crossbar square-on.

TCU is now 9-0 for the first time since the National Championship year of 1938, and on-track for a second consecutive C-USA title, and possibly a BCS bowl bid.

All thanks to a three-inch crossbar.

Friday night, Arlington Heights takes on Western Hills, in a rematch of this year's earlier 34-33 thriller, for the District 7-4A championship.

And quite probably a first-round playoff squash, but we won't think about that...

Saturday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on Rock, Chalk, and the rest of the Kansas Jayhawks. Nebraska has been blown out in both of its conference road games so far, and it's not out of the question that they've won their last game of the year - especially with *spit* Frank Solich *spit* as coach. Do not  bet your life savings on a Husker victory this weekend.

Sunday, Dallas is at home against the Buffalo Bills in a rematch of Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII (27 & 28 for those of you in Rio Linda). Buffalo's been up and down, but then again, so has Dallas. The game's here, though, so look for the Cowboys in a squeaker.
